Toaccess the Advanced Settings, select Services Home andInternet Fax. Then select the Advanced Settings tab.Image OptionsSelect Image Options to adjust the lightness and darknessof the image, and to sharpen the image. The options are:Lighten/DarkenProvides a manual control to adjust the lightness ordarkness of the scanned images.• Move the indicator down to darken the scannedimage, for light originals such as pencil images.• Move the indicator up to lighten the scanned image,for dark originals such as halftones or originals withcolored backgrounds.SharpnessThis provides manual control to adjust the sharpness of the scanned images.• Move the indicator up to sharpen the scanned image.• Move the indicator down to soften the scanned image.Select Save to save your selections and exit.Image EnhancementSelect Image Enhancement to reduce background and adjust the image contrast. The options are:Background SuppressionThis enhances originals that have colored backgrounds, byreducing or eliminating the background from your original.This option is useful when your original is on colored paper.• Select Auto Suppression to automatically suppressunwanted background.• Select Off to turn the Background Suppression featureoff, particularly when:• The Darken adjustment does not produce asatisfactory output from light originals.• The original has a gray or colored border, such as a certificate.• You want to bring out fine detail that was lost due to a dark edge when using bound originals.
