Protocol Settings 2-13Using a TCP/IP Network (Windows/UNIX)2Protocol SettingsYou can specify the machine's protocol settings on the computer by using any ofthe following software. Specify the settings using the easiest method.• NetSpot Device Installer (Canon software included on the Network User SoftwareCD-ROM)• NetSpot Console (via a web browser) (Canon software included on the NetworkUser Software CD-ROM)• A web browser (Remote UI)• An FTP clientIMPORTANTYou can enhance the security by setting the range of IP addresses of the computersauthorized to access the machine. Once you set the range of IP addresses of computesfrom which data can be sent to the machine for printing, the machine rejects data sentfrom computers whose IP addresses are not allowed. For instructions on how to registerthe IP addresses of computers permitted or rejected to print on the machine, seeChapter 2, "Remote UI Functions," in the Remote UI Guide.NOTEIf you change the IP (Internet Protocol) address on the web browser (Remote UI), thechange will not be reflected on the display of the machine. You can confirm the change ofthe IP address by checking "VIEW IP ADDRESS" under the Network Settings menu, orby printing a User Data List.Settings Using NetSpot Console or NetSpot DeviceInstallerYou can install NetSpot Console or NetSpot Device Installer from the Network UserSoftware CD-ROM provided with the machine, and use it to specify the protocolsettings on the computer you are using.For instructions on how to install NetSpot Console or NetSpot Device Installer, andhow to specify the protocol settings using NetSpot Console or NetSpot DeviceInstaller, see "NetSpot Console," on p. 5-3, or "NetSpot Device Installer," on p. 5-2,respectively.NOTE• You can also find online instructions on how to install NetSpot Console in the NetSpotConsole User's Guide or the Readme file, and how to set protocol settings in the NetSpotConsole User's Guide, Online Manual, or Online Help, all of which are included in theNetSpot Console folder on the Network User Software CD-ROM provided with themachine.
