Using the Optional GP-E2 GPS Receiver90Using the Optional GP-E2 GPS ReceiverWhen the optional GP-E2 GPS Receiver is connected to the camcorder’s USB terminal, the camcorder willautomatically record the GPS information (longitude, latitude and altitude) with every recording you make (MP4clips, XF-AVC clips and photos). For MP4 clips and photos, the UTC (coordinated universal time) date and timewill be recorded as well. For XF-AVC clips, the GPS information is recorded as part of the clip's metadata andcan be used to organize and search recordings using Canon XF Utility (A 113).The recorded GPS information can be checked on the clip information screen or photo playback screen (singlephoto view).Connecting the GPS ReceiverTurn off the camcorder and the receiver. Connect the receiver to the camcorder’s USB terminal using the USBcable*. While recording, place the receiver in the carrying case* and attach it to the camcorder’s grip belt or carryit on your person. For details about connecting and using the receiver, refer to the GP-E2 Instruction Manual.* Supplied with the receiver.Activating the GPS ReceiverTurn on the camcorder and receiver.• The icon appears on the left of the screen and will flash as the receiver tries to acquire satellite signals.• When satellite signals are correctly acquired, the icon will stay continuously on. GPS functions will beactivated and clips and photos recorded thereafter will be geotagged.Operating modes:To adjust the date and time automatically according to the GPS dataYou can set > [B System Setup] > [GPS Auto Time Setting] to [i Auto Update] to have thecamcorder automatically adjust its date and time settings according to the information received from the GPSsignal. The date and time will be updated automatically the first time a correct GPS signal is acquired afterturning on the camcorder.• While the automatic date/time adjustment is activated, the > [B System Setup] > [Date/Time]setting will not be available.• The time will not be updated while recording video.
