Adjusting the Exposure68Exposure CompensationYou can compensate the exposure that was set using automatic exposure, in order to darken or lighten theimage. This function can only be used when the shooting mode is set to ’, ‚ or “.1 Open the exposure screen.[FUNC] > [y Exposure Comp.]• If the exposure was locked, select [ ] to release the exposure lock.2 Drag your finger along the dial to compensate the exposure.• You can set a compensation value from –2 to +2 in 1/4 EV increments.3 Select [X].• [AE] and the exposure compensation value will appear on the left of the screen.NOTESNOTES• Exposure compensation is not available when infrared recording is activated.• If you set the CUSTOM dial’s function to [y Exposure Comp.] (A 93), you can compensate the exposurewith the CUSTOM dial and button.• The exposure lock will be released in the following cases:- When the power switch, mode switch or INFRARED switch is operated.- When the shooting mode is changed.- When the resolution, frame rate or look is changed.Backlight CorrectionWhen you need to record a scene with constant backlight conditions, you can use backlight correction to makethe picture, especially the darker areas, brighter.1 Select [ BLC Always On].[FUNC] > [ BLC Always On]2 Select [ On] and then select [X].• will appear on the left of the screen and the exposure will be adjusted to account for backlight conditions.NOTESNOTES• You can also use the > [v Camera Setup] > [Auto Backlight Correction] setting to activate theautomatic backlight correction function. However, the automatic correction cannot be used when [FUNC] >[Looks] is set to [ Neutral] or [ Wide DR].• Backlight correction cannot be turned on/off when [FUNC] > [Looks] is set to [ Wide DR] and theexposure is locked.• If you set an assignable button to [ BLC Always On] (A 94), you can press the button to turn the backlightcorrection on/off.• Backlight correction is not available in the following cases:- When the shooting mode is set to [T Fireworks].- When the shooting mode is set to n and [FUNC] > [Looks] is set to [ Wide DR].- When infrared recording is activated.• Backlight correction will be deactivated in the following cases:- When the power switch, mode switch or INFRARED switch is operated.- When the shooting mode is changed.- When the frame rate, video format or look is changed.
