Chapter 1 17Before PrintingTurning the Machine ON and OFFTurn on the machine before starting printing. Turning on the MachineBefore turning on the machine, confirm that the Print Head and ink tanks are set into place.1 Press [ON/OFF].[COPY] flashes green for a while, and then turns on. Turning off the Machine1 To turn off the machine, press [ON/OFF].The machine is off when the currently selected Mode button (e.g. COPY) stops flashing andall Operation Panel lamps are off. Setting the Power Save ModeThe machine is equipped with a Power save mode. In the Power save mode, the internalfluorescent lamp are turned off, and the selected Mode Lamp stays lit. You can configure theinterval that the machine waits before entering Power save mode. See “Power save setting”on page 94.When you try to copy or scan, the machine will exit from Power save mode.If you use the machine frequently, we recommend that you set the Power save transfer timeto 1 hour or 8 hours. The Screen-saver ModeThe LCD goes out if the machine is not operated for 5 minutes. Press any button to restorethe display. You cannot change the period before the LCD goes out.Note If preparatory operations above are not yet finished, follow the EasySetup Instructions to complete them.Note If the Alarm Lamp lights orange and an error message is displayed on theLCD, see “An Error Message is Displayed on the LCD” on page 113.Important When removing the power plug after turning off the machine, be sure tocheck that all the lamps on the Operation Panel are not lit. If the powerplug is removed from the wall outlet with the lamps on the OperationPanel lit or blinking, the machine cannot protect its Print Head and maybe unable to print.See “Keeping the Best Printing Results” on page 100.
