Start HereEasy Setup InstructionsCassetteEasy-Scroll WheelUnpack the MachineQT5-0786-V01Hardware setup and Print Headalignment is complete.a Place the machine on a flat andhorizontal surface, and do not placeany objects in front of the machine.Open the Sheet Feeder Cover andpull the Paper Support, then the PaperOutput Tray and open the Output TrayExtension.CautionBefore turning on the machine, remove all of theshipping tapes.ImportantDo not connect the USB cable until after the soft-ware is installed.NoteTo open the Paper Output Tray, put your fi nger in therounded indent of the tray and open it gently.b Unlock the Scanning Unit (PrinterCover).(1) Open the Document Cover.(2) Move the Scanner Lock Switch towards therelease mark to unlock the Scanning Unit (PrinterCover).Caution● Make sure to unlock the Scanning Unit (PrinterCover) before turning the machine on.● Before transporting the machine, always lockthe Scanning Unit (Printer Cover) by moving theScanner Lock Switch towards the lock mark.Scanning Unit (Printer Cover)(1)(2)c Plug the power cord in the back of themachine and connect the other end tothe wall outlet.ImportantMake sure that the Document Cover is closed.d Open the Operation Panel, then pressthe ON/OFF button to turn on themachine.1 Prepare the Machine 2 Install the Print Head 3 Install the Ink Tanks 4 Align the Print Heade Use the { or } button on theOperation Panel to select the languagefor the LCD, then press the OK button.(1) Press the { or }button to select thelanguage.(2) Press the OKbutton.ImportantIf an unintended language is displayed on theLCD, press the Back button to return to the Lan-guage selection screen.Once the message “Install the print head andset the ink tank.” appears, go to f.f Open the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover)until it locks into place. The Print HeadHolder moves to the center.Important● For your safety, always firmly grip the areas illus-trated when opening the Scanning Unit (PrinterCover).● If the Document Cover is opened, you cannotopen the Scanner Unit (Printer Cover). Be sureto open the Scanner Unit (Printer Cover) and theDocument Cover at the same time.g Open the Inner Cover. Write downthe serial number located inside themachine. You will need this to registeryour product.Inner Cover Serial Number Locationa Remove the Print Head from itspackage.CautionThere may be some transparent or light blue inkon the inside of the bag the print head comes in,or the inside of the protective cap - this has noeffect on print quality. Be careful not to get ink onyourself when handling these items.b Remove the orange protective cap fromthe Print Head and discard it.Protective Cap Print Head NozzlesElectrical ContactsNoteDo not touch the print head nozzles and the electricalcontacts.c Firmly raise the Print Head Lock Leveruntil it stops.The Print Head Lock Levermay feel heavy.d Insert the Print Head.Do not touch!e Push the Print Head to hold it in place,and lower the Print Head Lock Lever.ImportantIf the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover) is left openfor more than 10 minutes, the Print Head Holdermoves to the right. Close and reopen the ScanningUnit (Printer Cover) to return the Holder to thecenter.a Peel back the orange tab completelyand remove the plastic wrapper fromthe ink tank.If the orange-colored protective film is not removedcompletely, problems with printing may occur.b Twist off and discard the orangeprotective cap located on the bottom ofthe ink tank.Electrical ContactsInk PortProtective CapDo not press!Important• Do not touch the electrical contacts.• Do not touch the ink port.c Insert the ink tank into the right-handslot and press the mark on the inktank until it clicks into place.d Make sure the ink lamp lights red.Refer to the colorguide on the PrintHead Lock Lever.e Close the Inner Cover and theScanning Unit (Printer Cover).Important• For your safety, always firmly grip the areas il-lustrated when closing the Scanning Unit (PrinterCover).• The machine starts operating. Wait about 2 min-utes until the machine stops making noise.a Pinch the Paper Guide and slide it tothe left end.Paper SupportExtensionPaper Guideb Load two sheets of supplied paper(MP-101) into the Auto Sheet Feederwith the printing side (whiter side)facing up, align the paper with the rightside of the Cover Guide, then slide thePaper Guide against the paper stack.Paper GuideCover GuidePrint Sidec Make sure that Yes is selected in themessage requesting head alignment,then press the OK button.NotePrint Head alignment takes about 14 minutes tocomplete. Do not start another operation here.The pattern is printed. And Print Head is alignedautomatically. OKNote• The pattern is printed in black and blue.• When Automatic Print Head Alignment cannot beexecuted correctly, the message “Auto head alignhas failed.” is displayed on the LCD. Refer to “ErrorMessage is Displayed on the LCD” in the User’sGuide on-screen manual.Office All-In-One• Please confirm the included items against the illustration printed on the lid of the packing box.• A USB cable is necessary to connect the machine with your computer.Turn the Easy-Scroll Wheelleft or right to easily selecta menu or a setting item.For details, refer to “BasicOperation for the OperationPanel” in the Quick StartGuide.* You can also use the {,}, [, or ] button toselect.For information on how to load paper in theCassette, refer to “Loading Paper in theCassette” in “Loading Printing Paper” of theQuick Start Guide. |
