48 • VideoFinalizing the DiscTo play the disc you recorded on a DVDplayer, a computer’s DVD drive or otherdigital device, you need to finalize itfirst.1 Power the camcorder using thecompact power adapter or a fullycharged battery pack.2 Set the camcorder tomode.The green PLAY indicator will turn on.3 Start the disc's finalization.[ MENU][ DISC OPERATIONS][FINALIZE] [YES]• A progress bar and the timeremaining will be displayed on thescreen.• Selecting [ MENU] is onlynecessary when using a DVD-RWrecorded in VR mode. Otherwise,pressing will open the menudirectly on the setup menus screen.4 When the process is completed([OK] appears), press and waituntil the [ DISC OPERATIONS]menu is displayed again.Depending on the number of scenes,this may take a moment.5 Press to close the menu.During playback and inmode, the icon will indicate thatthe disc is finalized.IMPORTANT• Be sure to finalize the disc in normalroom temperatures. If the procedurewas not completed correctly due tohigh temperature, let the camcordercool off before resuming operation.• Place the camcorder on a table orother stable surface before startingthe procedure. Subjecting thecamcorder even to slight impacts (forexample to place it on a table or todisconnect a cable) after thefinalization process started may resultin permanent data loss.• Do not disconnect the power sourcewhile the operation is in progress. Doingso can interrupt the process and result inpermanent data loss.• Depending on the type of disc and thedisc specification, after finalizing the discyou may not be able to initialize the disc,edit your recordings or add newrecordings to the disc. Refer to the tableon page 49.• Do not use this camcorder to finalizediscs that were not recorded with it.NOTESThe time required to finalize the discdepends on the scenes recorded and theremaining free space on the disc.( 21)FUNC.FUNC.FUNC.
