32 • VideoQuick Start FunctionWhen you close the LCD panel with thecamcorder set to a recording mode, thecamcorder enters the standby mode. Instandby mode the camcorder consumesonly about half the power used whenrecording, saving energy when you areusing a battery pack. Additionally, whenyou open the LCD panel, the camcorderis ready to start recording inapproximately 1 second*, ensuring youdo not miss important shootingopportunities.* The actual time required varies dependingon the shooting conditions.1 With the camcorder on and theCAMERA indicator lit up in green,close the LCD panel.• If you are using the viewfinder andthe LCD panel is closed, pressto enter the standbymode.• A beep will sound and theCAMERA indicator will change toorange to indicate the camcorderentered the standby mode.2 When you wish to resumerecording, open the LCD panel.• The CAMERA indicator turns backgreen and the camcorder is readyto record.• You can also press toresume recording using theviewfinder with the LCD panelclosed.IMPORTANTDo not disconnect the power source whilethe camcorder is in standby mode(CAMERA indicator is lit in orange).NOTES• If you close the LCD panel under somecircumstances (for example, while theDISC access indicator is flashing or amenu is being displayed), the camcordermay not enter standby mode. Check thatthe CAMERA indicator changes toorange.• The camcorder will shut off if left instandby mode for 10 minutes, regardlessof the [POWER SAVE] setting ( 71). Torestore the power if the camcorder shutoff, turn the switch toward MODEand release it, or turn the camcorder offand then on again.• You can select the length of time untilshut-off or turn off the Quick Startfunction altogether with the [QUICKSTART] setting ( 71).• Performing any of the following actionswhile the camcorder is in standby modewill reactivate the camcorder.- Opening the disc compartment cover.- Changing the position of the /switch.- Turning the switch towardMODE.Reviewing and Deleting the Last SceneRecordedEven in mode you can playback the last scene recorded in order tocheck it.
