StabiliTrak® SystemThe vehicle has an electronic stability control systemcalled StabiliTrak. It is an advanced computer controlledsystem that assists with directional control of thevehicle in difficult driving conditions.StabiliTrak activates when the computer senses adiscrepancy between your intended path and thedirection the vehicle is actually traveling. StabiliTrakselectively applies braking pressure at any one of thevehicle’s brakes to help steer the vehicle in the directionwhich you are steering. When the system activates, the Traction Control System(TCS)/StabiliTrak warning light on the instrumentpanel cluster flashes. You may also hear a noise or feelvibration in the brake pedal. This is normal. Continueto steer the vehicle in the direction you want it to go.If there is a problem detected with StabiliTrak, a ServiceStability System message displays on the DriverInformation Center (DIC) and the TCS/StabiliTrakwarning light on the instrument panel cluster comes on.When this message and warning light displays, thesystem is not operational. Driving should be adjustedaccordingly. See DIC Warnings and Messages onpage 3-56 and Warning Lights, Gages, and Indicatorson page 3-30 for more information.StabiliTrak comes on automatically whenever the vehicleis started. The system should be left on to help assist withdirectional control of the vehicle. If StabiliTrak needs tobe turned off, press the TC (traction control) on/off button.See Traction Control System (TCS) on page 4-6.If cruise control is being used when the StabiliTrakactivates, the cruise control will automatically disengage. When road conditions allow, reengage the cruisecontrol. See Cruise Control on page 3-14 for moreinformation.4-8
