The top tether anchors are located under the covers onthe rear seatback filler panel. Pull open the cover toaccess the anchors. Be sure to use an anchor locatedon the same side of the vehicle as the seating positionwhere the child restraint will be placed.Do not secure a child restraint in a position without atop tether anchor if a national or local law requires thatthe top tether be attached, or if the instructions thatcome with the child restraint say that the top tether mustbe attached.Accident statistics show that children are safer if theyare restrained in the rear rather than the front seat. SeeWhere to Put the Restraint on page 2‑44 for additionalinformation.Securing a Child Restraint Designed for theLATCH System{ WARNING:If a LATCH-type child restraint is not attached toanchors, the child restraint will not be able toprotect the child correctly. In a crash, the childcould be seriously injured or killed.
