9 CONFIGURING WX S WITCHESREMOTELYYou can use 3WXM Services running in your corporate network toconfigure WX switches in remote offices. The following remoteconfiguration scenarios are supported: Drop ship—3WXM Services running in the corporate network canconfigure a WXR100 switch shipped directly to a remote office. Thisoption does not require any preconfiguration of the switch. Staged—You can stage any model of switch by preconfiguring IPconnectivity and enabling auto-config, then sending the switch to theremote office. The switch contacts 3WXM Services in the corporatenetwork to complete its configuration.The drop ship option is supported only for the WXR100. The stagedoption is supported for all switch models. Both options require 3WXMServices. If you know a serial number for a switch, you can create acomplete configuration for the switch in 3WXM. When the switchrequests its configuration from 3WXM, 3WXM sends the configurationfor that serial number. If you do not know the serial number, you canupload the partially configured switch into 3WXM, finish itsconfiguration, then deploy the completed configuration back to theswitch.
