EtherTRAK®2 and Etherbus®Dual Ethernet I/O Module6.20 Watchdog OutputApplicable to: All I/O modulesA microprocessor in the module continuously monitors several user-selected system functions. Additionally, anindependent CPU watchdog microprocessor in the module also monitors the main CPU and can be used toindicate a failure of the main CPU. The watchdog options are (as selected in the web interface or I/O Tool Kitsoftware):Power 1 FailurePower 2 FailurePoE Failure (Not valid on all modules)Ethernet Ring FailureWatchdog CPU MonitorThe default state of the Watchdog Output (screw terminal #9 or #7 on the I/O module’s wiring base, consultbase silkscreen or Section 4.5) is ON (True). If an error condition in any one of the user-selected parameters isdetected, the Watchdog will output an OFF (False) state. The default watchdog time period is 3 seconds, and may be set as high as 65 seconds to allow for telemetryequipment or application-related program delays. The timer period selected will apply individually to eachwatchdog function selected.6.21 Heartbeat monitorApplicable to: All I/O modulesThe heartbeat monitor is a software selection in the “Watchdog/Heartbeat Monitor” configuration page. Whenthe heartbeat timeout option is selected the module firmware will monitor a discrete register of choice (virtual orphysical) for a heartbeat toggle. When a heartbeat toggle has not been received on the given heartbeatregister within the given Heartbeat Timeout period the module can be configured to drop outputs (virtual and/orphysicals). This can be used as a failsafe incase the Controller, RTU, or SCADA system writing the outputs tothe EtherTRAK-2 modules fails. Please see the Tool Kit or web user interface help for more information on howto configure this feature.Phone: 800.894.0412 - Fax: 888.723.4773 - Web: www.clrwtr.com - Email: info@clrwtr.com
