It is designed to be connected to acompatible modular jack that is also compliant. See installation instructions fordetails.You may safely connect the machine to the following standard modular jack:USOC RJ-11C using the compliant telephone line cord (with modular plugs)provided with the installation kit. See installation instructions for details.The Ringer Equivalence Number (or REN) is used to determine the number ofdevices that may be connected to a telephone line. Excessive RENs on atelephone line may result in the devices not ringing in response to an incomingcall. In most but not all areas, the sum of RENs should not exceed five (5.0).To be certain of the number of devices that may be connected to a line, asdetermined by the total RENs, contact the local Telephone Company. Forproducts approved after July 23, 2001, the REN for this product is part of theproduct identifier that has the format US:AAAEQ##TXXXX. The digitsrepresented by ## are the REN without a decimal point (e.g., 03 is a REN of0.3). For earlier products, the REN is separately shown on the label.If this Xerox equipment causes harm to the telephone network, the TelephoneCompany will notify you in advance that temporary discontinuance of servicemay be required. If advance notice isn't practical, the Telephone Company willnotify the customer as soon as possible. Also, you will be advised of your rightto file a complaint with the FCC if you believe it is necessary.The Telephone Company may make changes in its facilities, equipment,operations or procedures that could affect the operation of the equipment. Ifthis happens the Telephone Company will provide advance notice in order foryou to make necessary modifications to maintain uninterrupted service.If trouble is experienced with this Xerox equipment, for repair or warrantyinformation, please contact the appropriate service center; details of which aredisplayed either on the machine or contained within the user guide. If theequipment is causing harm to the telephone network, the TelephoneCompany may request that you disconnect the equipment until the problem isresolved.Repairs to the machine should be made only by a Xerox representative or anauthorized Xerox service agency. This applies at any time during or after theservice warranty period. If unauthorized repair is performed, the remainder ofthe warranty period is null and void. This equipment must not be used on partylines. Connection to party line service is subject to state tariffs. Contact thestate public utility commission, public service commission or corporationcommission for information.If your office has specially wired alarm equipment connected to the telephoneline, ensure the installation of this Xerox equipment does not disable youralarm equipment. If you have questions about what will disable alarmequipment, consult your Telephone Company or a qualified installer.
