Let the oven cooldown, and then reset the controls. Theself-clean cycle will not lock the ovendoor if the oven temperature is too hot.The door must lock before the self-cleancycle can start. After you have run a self-cleaning cycle, the oven will not let yourun another self-cleaning cycle for twohours.The self-cleaningoven controls are notproperly set.Reset the self-cleaning oven controls. (Seepage 30.)The door is open.An alert beep sounds, and the "Pleaseclose the door." message appears on thedisplay. Make sure that the door is closed.Problem Possible cause SolutionCrackling orpopping sound. This is normal.This is the sound of the metal heating andcooling during any cooking or cleaningfunction.Excessive smokingduring a self-cleaning cycle.This is the first timethe oven has beencleaned.This is normal. The oven will always smokemore the first time it is cleaned.Wipe up all excessive soiling beforestarting the self-cleaning cycle.If smoke persists, rotate both the modeand temperature selector knobs to the OFFposition. Open the windows to clear thesmoke from the room. After the oven hascooled and unlocked, wipe up excessivesoil and reset the oven for self-cleaning.Oven door will notopen after a self-cleaning cycle.This is normal. The oven door will stay locked until theoven temperature drops below 400 °F.Oven not cleanafter a self-cleaningcycle.A fine dust or ash isnormal.This can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.Set the self-cleaning cycle for a longercleaning time. The cycle was not longenough to burn off the dirt buildup.Extremely dirty ovens require hand-cleaning of excessive spillovers and foodbuildup before you start a self-cleaningcycle. Multiple self-cleaning cycles may benecessary to completely clean the oven.Steam or smokecoming from underthe control panel.This is normal.The oven vent is located there.
