66OPTICAL DISC CHANGER PLAYBACK BASICSLoading DiscsTo load discs in the CVR700, first turn theCVR700 on by pressing the Main PowerOn/Off Switch 0.Set the CVR700 to the DVD source inputeither by slowly rotating the SourceSelector & until it engages in thenotch and DVD appears in theInformation Display Ô, or by pressingthe DVD Input Selector d .Press the Eject Button 6, and youwill be prompted to select a disc numberby a message in the Lower DisplayLine E. You must enter a number, eitherby pressing one of the front-panel DiscSelectors 5, or by entering a numberbetween 1 and 5 using the NumericKeys l . If you don't enter a num-ber, the CVR700 will cancel the command.The Disc Indicator D corresponding tothe tray number you selected will flash.The door will drop forward and the maga-zine tray corresponding to the disc posi-tion you have selected will slide forward.Note that the door will open only enoughto allow the correct tray to slide forward,so that the door opens wider for the highernumbered trays located further down.This is perfectly normal.Hold the disc by the edge, and gentlyplace it into the disc drawer, making surethe disc is properly seated in the tray’sinsert. If the disc is not correctly centered,you may damage both the disc and theplayer when the drawer closes. Whenloading discs, please note the following:• The CVR700 will play discs with thefollowing logos, as well as most WMAand JPEG discs. It will play KodakPicture CDs, but not Photo CDs. DONOT attempt to play another typeof disc.• The CVR700 will play discs in the NTSCand PAL video formats.• Playback capability for CD-RW, DVD-RWor DVD+RW discs will vary according tothe quality of the disc. On some occa-sions, it is possible that these discs maynot play on the CVR700. This does notindicate any problem with the CVR700.• The CVR700 will only play discs thatare coded for Region 1 or discs that areopen to being played in all regions.Discs that contain any other RegionCode will not play.• Both 5-inch (12cm) and 3-inch (8cm)discs may be used.• When loading CD audio discs, load thediscs with the label side up.• When loading DVD discs with printedlabels, load them label side up.• Some DVD discs are double-sided.The title information for these will beprinted on the inner ring of the disc,very close to the center hole. The titlefor the side you wish to play shouldbe facing up.Once a disc is properly loaded, press theEject Button 6 to close the disc drawer.After the drawer closes, you will need toinstruct the CVR700 to play the disc bypressing the Play Button !e .The Lower Display Line E will promptyou for a disc number. You may enterthe number of any loaded disc either bypressing its corresponding Disc Selector5 or by using the Numeric Keysl . If you don't select a disc, theCVR700 will load the last disc played.However, if no other discs are loaded andyou press the Play Button !einstead of the Eject Button 6 to closethe disc drawer, the CVR700 will closethe door and begin play of the disc youjust loaded.You will briefly see LOADING in theInformation Display K to alert you tothe fact that the unit is determining thetype of disc (DVD, DVD-Audio, CD, VCD,JPEG, WMA or MP3) and is reading thedata for track, chapter, title and otherinformation about the disc.Status BarOnce the disc’s data has been read, thetype of disc will be displayed by theDisc-Type Indicator A and the discwill begin playing. The disc’s track timinginformation and other relevant data willappear in the Upper Display Line H.While a disc is playing, you may accessthe Status Bar by pressing the StatusButton S to view information onthe current title and chapter, to changethe current title or chapter, or to viewtime elapsed or remaining for a title orchapter (see Figure 41).Figure 41A Title Number: The first item in theStatus Bar is the current Title Number.When this number is highlighted, youmay use the Numeric Keys l toenter the number of the desired title, andpress the Set Button I to switchto that title. Some discs may prohibit thisaction during certain titles, such as thewarnings against copying the disc. Notethat when the DVD Audio setting in theDVD SETUP menu (Figure 31) hasbeen set to ON, this item will be theGroup number. When the DVD Audio set-ting has been set to OFF, the disc willbe recognized as a DVD-Video disc, andthis item will be the title number.B Chapter Number: The second item isthe current Chapter Number. When thisnumber is highlighted, you may use theNumeric Keys l to enter thenumber of the desired chapter, and pressthe Set Button I to switch to thatchapter. Some discs may prohibit thisaction during certain titles, such as thewarnings against copying the disc. Notethat when the DVD Audio setting in theDVD SETUP menu (Figure 31) hasbeen set to ON, this item will be theTrack number. When the DVD Audio set-ting has been set to OFF, the disc willbe recognized as a DVD-Video disc, andthis item will be the chapter number.C Elapsed Time: The third item is theElapsed Time of the current chapter. It isnot possible to display other time vari-ables. When this item is highlighted, youmay take advantage of the Time Searchfeature, which allows you to begin play-back from a specified point on the disc.Use the Numeric Keys l to enterthe hour/minute/second indication of thetime at which you wish play to begin, fol-lowed by the Set Button I .Playback from that point will begin imme-diately.
