19CVR700 FRONT-PANEL INFORMATION DISPLAYA Disc-Type Indicators: The DVD,DVD-Audio, CD, VCD or MP3 indicatorwill light to show the type of disc cur-rently being played. WMA and JPEGdiscs will be identified in the Upper andLower Display Lines EH.B PCM Bitstream Indicators: ThePCM indicator will light when a PCM(pulse code modulation) bitstream isdetected. PCM bitstreams are used onaudio CDs, and may also be found onother disc types either as the main audioformat or as the format used on certainportions of the disc, such as a “makingof” featurettes on a DVD. The 96K or192K indicators will light when a high-resolution audio signal is detected. Thistype of audio track may be found onsome DVD-Audio discs.C Programmed Play Indicators: TheCVR700 is capable of playing discs in aprogrammed order other than the order inwhich the tracks are found on the disc.Tracks may be played in random order,or you may program some or all of thetracks on a CD to play in a playlist order.In addition, you may program the CVR700to repeat play of some of the tracks on adisc, an entire disc, all discs, or a pro-grammed playlist. Some of the pro-grammed modes may not be availablefor certain disc formats. See page 75for more information.D Disc Indicators: The circled num-bers will light to indicate the positions ofloaded discs, and the indicator for thecurrent disc will flash.E Lower Display Line: Depending onthe unit’s status, a variety of messageswill appear here. In normal operation, thecurrent surround mode will appear onthis line.F Speaker/Channel Input Indicators:These indicators are multipurpose, indicat-ing both the speaker type selected foreach channel and the incoming data signalconfiguration. The left, center, right, rightsurround and left surround speaker indica-tors are composed of two boxes, while thesubwoofer is a single box. The inner boxlights when a “small” speaker is selected,and the outer boxes light when “large”speakers are selected. When none of theboxes are lit for the center, surround orsubwoofer channels, no speaker has beenassigned that position. (See page 48 formore information on configuring speakers.)The letters inside each box display theactive input channels. For standard analoginputs, only the L and R will light, indicat-ing a stereo input. For a digital source, theindicators will light to display the channelsbeing received at the digital input. Whenthe letters flash, the digital input has beeninterrupted. When a 6.1-channel bitstreamis detected, a horizontal line will appearbetween the icons for the surround backleft and right channels to indicate thatthese two channels are in mono mode.(See page 61 for more information on theChannel Indicators.)G Surround Mode Indicators: One ofthese indicators will light to show thesurround mode in use. Depending on thespecific combination of input sources andsurround mode selected, more than oneindicator may light. (See page 61 formore information.)H Upper Display Line: Depending onthe unit’s status, a variety of messageswill appear here. In normal operation,this line will show the current inputsource and identify whether an analogor digital input is in use. When the tuneris selected as the input, this line willidentify the station as AM or FM andshow the frequency and preset number,if any.I Progressive Scan Indicator: Thisindicator lights when the CVR700’sprogressive scan component video outputis activated.J Aspect Ratio Indicators: Theaspect ratio of the incoming video signalwill light. These indicators are informa-tional only and reflect the aspect ratioinformation provided by the DVD discitself. You may need or wish to makemanual adjustments to display theimages so that they fill the screen, or ifyou prefer to avoid any scaling or crop-ping of the images, you may wish to let-terbox the image.
