59Once you have completed the initialsetup and configuration of the JBLCinema Vision system, it is simple tooperate and enjoy. The following instruc-tions will help you maximize the enjoy-ment of your new home theater system:Turning the CVR700 and CVPD50On or OffPlug the CVPD50 and CVR700 powercords into unswitched AC wall outlets.When using the system for the first time,you must make sure that the powerswitch on the underside of the CVPD50next to the AC power cord is switched onto the “1” position. Use a mirror to assistyou in locating the switch and ascertain-ing whether it is on or off. This places theCVPD50 in a Standby mode, as indicatedby the amber color of the LED located onthe front of the screen, below the picture.In addition, the LED in the middle of theMain Power On/Off Switch 1 on theCVR700 will turn red.Once the units are in Standby, you maybegin a listening session by pressing theMain Power On/Off Switch 1, whichwill turn on both the CVR700 and theCVPD50, or press the Power On (All)Button b . If you hold it for 3seconds, all devices programmed intothe remote will also turn on. The LED inthe center of the Main Power On/OffSwitch 1 will turn orange, and the LEDon the front of the CVPD50 will turn green.This will turn the CVR700 on and return itto the input source that was last used.The system may also be turned on fromStandby by pressing and holding any ofthe Input Selector Buttons d. This will not only power on theCVR700, CVPD50 and any source unitassociated with that button, it will alsobegin play of the currently loaded discif the internal DVD/CD changer wasselected as the source.NOTE: After pressing one of the InputSelector Buttons d to turnthe unit on, press the System Selectorf to set the remote control to theCVR700 functions. Press the DVD InputSelector d to control the internalDVD/CD changer.To turn the unit off at the end of a listen-ing session, simply press the MainPower On/Off Control 1 on the frontpanel or the Power Off Button aon the remote. You may also press andhold the Power Off (All) Button ato turn off any external source units.The LED indicator in the center of theMain Power On/Off Control 1 willturn red, and the LED on the front ofthe CVPD50 will turn amber. When theremote is used to turn the unit “off” it isactually placing the system in a Standbymode, as indicated by the red color of theLED on the CVR700 and the amber colorof the LED on the CVPD50.To program the CVR700 for automaticturn-off, press the Sleep ButtonY on the remote. Each press ofthe button will decrease the time beforeshut-down in the following sequence: 90minutes, 80 minutes, 70 minutes, 60 min-utes, 50 minutes, 40 minutes, 30 minutes,20 minutes, 10 minutes, Sleep Timer Off.The sleep time will be displayed in theLower Display Line E, and it willcount down until the time has elapsed.When the programmed sleep time haselapsed, the system will automaticallyturn off. The CVR700’s front-panel displaywill dim to one-half brightness when theSleep function is programmed. To cancelthe Sleep function, press and hold theSleep Button Y until the informa-tion display returns to normal brightness;the Sleep indicator numbers will disap-pear and the words SLEEP OFF willappear in the Lower Display Line E.When you will be away from home for anextended period of time it is always agood idea to completely turn the unit offby unplugging the CVR700, and switchingoff the master power switch located onthe underside of the CVPD50 next to thepower plug. NOTE: Preset memoriesshould be retained indefinitely.Source Selection• To select a source, press any of theInput Selector Buttons d .• The input source may also be changedby slowly rotating the front-panelInput Source Selector &. Each step,which you may feel as a tactile detentor click, will move the input selectionthrough the available inputs.• As the input is changed, the CVR700will automatically switch to the digitalinput (if selected), surround mode,speaker configuration, and night modestatus that were entered during theconfiguration process for that source.• The Front-Panel Audio/Video Inputs$ may be used to temporarily con-nect a device such as a video game orcamcorder to your home entertainmentsystem. This source is called theGame/Cam input source on the remotecontrols and in the CVR700’s menusystem.• As the input source is changed, thenew input name will appear momentar-ily as an on-screen banner displayalong with the audio input and videoscreen format. The input name willalso appear in the Main InformationDisplay Ô• When an audio source is selected, thelast video input used remains routedto the VCR Video Outputs ¤, theDigital Recorder Video Ouptuts ‚and the Video Monitor Outputs ›.This permits you to simultaneouslyview and listen to different sources.• When a video source is selected, thevideo signal for that input will be routedto the CVPD50 for viewing, and if itis a composite or S-video source,the video signal will be routed to theVideo Monitor Output ¤ and maybe viewed on an external TV monitorconnected to the CVR700.Volume Control• Adjust the volume to a comfortablelevel using the front-panel VolumeControl a or remote Volume Up/Down Buttons u .• To temporarily silence all speaker out-puts, press the Mute Button .This will interrupt the output to allspeakers and the headphone jack, butit will not affect any recording or dub-bing that may be in progress. Whenthe system is muted, the word MUTEwill flash in the Main InformationDisplay Ô. Press the Mute Buttonagain, or adjust the volume toreturn to normal operation.• The unit’s tone controls may be takenout of the signal path by pressing theTone Mode Button m . Thefirst press will show a message in theLower Display Line E with the cur-rent status of the tone controls. Thesystem default is TONE IN, whichindicates that the bass and treblecontrols are active. Press the ⁄/¤Navigation Control q tochange the setting to TONE OUT,which is “flat” response without thetone controls being active.• When the tone controls are active,the bass and treble boost/cut may beadjusted by first pressing the ToneMode Button m until thedesired setting (BASS MODE orTREBLE MODE) appears in
