Chapter 1818-215) While downloading is under way, the controlpanel screen shows its progress. At the end ofdownloading, a message will appear asking youto press a key. Press the appropriate key. If themachine is in normal mode, the shut-downsequence will start.F-18-586) When a message appears asking you to turn offthe power, turn off the main power, remove theUSB device, and turn the main power switchback on.7) Upon start-up, the machine starts writing thesystem software to the system area of the HDDor the flash ROM. At the end of writing, amessage will appear asking you to turn off andthen back on the power. Turn off and then onthe main switch.F-18-5918.4.4.6 Formatting the HDD 0011-6781This function is available only when the machineis in safe mode.[4]: Format HDD (in the presence of BOOT-DEV)Use it to format the HDD for BOOTDEV parti-tion.[4]: Format HDD (ALL) (in the absence ofBOOTDEV, as when replacing with new HDD)Use it to format the HDD for full partition.Go through the following to format the HDD forBOOTDEV partition:1) If the machine is on, go through the HDD shut-down instructions, and turn off the main power.2) Connect the USB device to the USB port.3) Start up the machine in safe mode.4) Follow the instructions on the control panel,and press the appropriate key.[4] -> [0]: go to Partition Selection screen /other that [0]: go back to Menu screenF-18-605) Go through the instructions on the controlpanel, and press the appropriate key.[1] -> [0]: execute BOOTDEV formatting /other than [0]: go back to Menu screen[C]: go back to Menu screenF-18-616) At the end of formatting, a message will appearasking you to press a key.
