ARM aids insmoother shifting by matching theengine speed to the next selectedgear. By monitoring shift lever andclutch operation, ARM adjustsengine speed to match a calibratedvalue based on gear selection. Onupshifts and downshifts, enginespeed will be increased anddecreased to match vehicle roadspeed and transmission gearposition. ARM is maintained for afew seconds between shifts, thendeactivates if the shift is notcompleted.The system is activated anddeactivated by pressing either of thepaddles on the steering wheel. Thesystem must be activated with eachnew ignition cycle.A gear indicator in the instrumentcluster displays the current gearselected. ARM is also shown in thePerformance View of the HUD:. When ARM is activated, thegear number is amber.. When ARM is deactivated, thegear number is white.. If no gear number is displayedwhile the shift lever is in gear,service is required. ARM will bedisabled, and the malfunctionindicator lamp will be on. SeeMalfunction Indicator Lamp(Check Engine Light) 0 121. Theclutch and manual transmissionwill continue to operate normally.ARM will also:. Be active above14 km/h (9 mph).. Match engine speed up to6100 rpm..
