Engine Coolant TemperatureWarning LightThe engine coolanttemperature warninglight will come on whenthe engine is very hot.This light will also come on briefly when thevehicle is started.If the light does not go out or comes on and stayson while driving, there may be a problem withthe cooling system. Driving with engine coolanttemperature light on could cause your vehicleto overheat, see Overheated Engine ProtectionOperating Mode on page 395. See EngineOverheating on page 393 and DIC Warnings andMessages on page 264 for more information.Engine Coolant Temperature GageThis gage shows theengine coolanttemperature.It can be used to see when your engine haswarmed up and to make sure your cooling systemis operating properly. If the gage pointer movesinto the shaded area, the engine coolant is too hotand the engine coolant temperature warninglight will come on. See Engine Overheating onpage 393 for more information.251
