Twilight Sentinel®Twilight Sentinel® can turn your lamps on and offfor you.A light sensor on top of the instrument panelmakes the Twilight Sentinel® work, so be sure it isnot covered. With Twilight Sentinel® the following will happen:• When it is dark enough outside, the frontturn signal lamps (DRL) will go off, andthe headlamps and parking lamps will comeon. The other lamps that come on withheadlamps will also come on.• When it is bright enough outside, theheadlamps will go off, and the front turn signallamps (DRL) will come on, as long as theexterior lamp switch is in the off position. If you start your vehicle in a dark garage, theautomatic headlamp system will come onimmediately. Once you leave the garage, it willtake about one minute for the automatic headlampsystem to change to DRL if it is light outside.During that delay, the instrument panel clustermight not be as bright as usual. Make surethe instrument panel brightness control is in fullbright position. See Instrument Panel Brightnesson page 220 for more information. You can idle the vehicle with the lamps off, evenwhen it is dark outside. First set the parkingbrake while the ignition is in OFF/ACCESSORY.Then start the vehicle. The lamps will stay off untilthe parking brake is released.218
