Passenger Compartment Air FilterYour vehicle may be equipped with a passengercompartment air filter. There are two types of filtersavailable. There is a standard dust filter thattraps small particles including pollen. There is,also, a dust/odor filter available that traps dust andpollen and also uses a charcoal element to helpreduce many offensive odors from enteringyour vehicle. Like your vehicle’s engine aircleaner/filter, it will need to be changedperiodically. For information on how often tochange the passenger compartment air filter, seeScheduled Maintenance on page 505.Notice: Driving without a passengercompartment air filter in place can cause waterand small particles, like paper and leaves, tobe pulled into your climate control systemwhich may cause damage to it. Make sure youalways replace the old filter with a new one.The access panel for the passenger compartmentair filter is located under the hood near thewindshield, on the passenger’s side of the vehicle.See Engine Compartment Overview on page 373for more information on location.
