Configuring WX Management Services 209Configuring WXManagementServicesYou can configure the following information and management servicesfor the WX:■ System information — You can specify system contact information,as well as the CLI prompt and the banner message that appears ateach session. (See “Setting System Information” on page 210.)■ HTTPS — By default, HTTPS is enabled. TCP port 443 is used forsecure access by Web Manager, the 3Com Web-based application formanaging a WX. (See “Enabling HTTPS” on page 211.)3WXM communications also use HTTPS, but 3WXM is not affected by theHTTPS configuration on the WX. For 3WXM, HTTPS is always enabled andlistens to port 8889.■ Telnet — By default, Telnet is disabled. You can enable Telnet forunencrypted access to the CLI. (See “Configuring Telnet” onpage 212.)■ SSH — By default, SSH is enabled. You can use SSH for encryptedaccess to the CLI. (See “Configuring SSH” on page 213.)■ SNMP — By default, SNMP is disabled. You can enable SNMP trapsand trap receivers, and specify read-only and read-write communitystrings. (See “Configuring SNMP” on page 214.)■ Logging — The system log provides event information for monitoringand troubleshooting. You can send the log information to a local databuffer on a WX, to the console, to a Telnet session, and to aconfigured set of syslog servers. (See “Configuring Logging” onpage 218.)■ Tracing — Tracing allows you to review diagnostic information fordebugging MSS. Tracing allows you to review messages about thestatus of a specific area of MSS. (See “Configuring Tracing” onpage 224.)■ Time zone and summertime settings — You can configure thesystem time and date statically. You also can configure MSS to offsetthe time by an additional hour for daylight savings time or similarsummertime period. (See “Setting the Timezone” on page 226.)
