Installation10 DocuMate 252 Scanner Userís GuideStep 4: Connect the USB CableThe DocuMate 252 scanner connects to any available USB port.Check your computerís manual for USB port locations.1. Plug the USB cable into the USB port on the scanner and theninto a USB port on the computer. The ports are identified withthe USB symbols.You can also connect the scanner to a USB port on thecomputerís keyboard if it has one, or to a USB hub. If you use aUSB hub, it must have its own power supply already pluggedinto an electrical outlet.If you are using Windows XP and have plugged the USB cableinto a USB 1.1 port, an information bubble opens explainingthat ìA HI-SPEED USB device is plugged into a non-HI-SPEEDUSB hubî. Plug the USB cable into a USB 2.0 port (if available)or just disregard the message. If you leave it plugged into theUSB 1.1 port, your scanner may scan a bit slower than the 25pages per minute, and 50 images per minute available with aUSB 2.0 port.NOTE: You can connect the scanner to your computer while thecomputer is running. You do not have to shut down yourcomputer.NOTE: If you have not installed the software, unplug the USBcable from the computer and install the software now. When thesoftware installation is complete, a message tells you to connectthe scanner.USB
