1 INTRODUCTIONI .OO General Information1.01 TheTl/DS-1 interface (NDTU) PCBprovidesPERCEPTIONeLex with a capacity of up to 24digital circuits. Up to two NDTU PCBs may beplaced in a PERCEPTIONeLex system, so that amaximum of 48 digital circuits may be placed inservice. (Attachment A describes the Tl/DS-1 in-terface in greater detail.) The second NDTU PCBmust be installed in the expansion cabinet.1.02 Each NDTU PCB can be programmed toactivate 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, or 24 of the digital trunks. The remaining slots can be assigned to analogtrunks, so that a mix of analog and digital trunks canbe switched in the PERCEPTIONekex systems. This internal “fractionalized” use of the Tl/DS-1interface is unique in the industry.I .I 0 Requirements1.11 Span: Each PERCEPTIONe,exTl spanrequires the following configuration:l One NDTU PCB for each Tl span (Tl/DS-1interface).l A customer-provided Channel Service Unit(CSU) for each span connected to the network,or for a span between PBXs that are more than655 feet apart (see Attachment B for CSU infor-mation).l A 30 foot amphenol-type to DB15 connectorcable (PBX-to-CSU cable) is provided with eachNDTU.IMPORTANT NOTE:The maximum distance betweenPERCEPTION,, and the CSWDSU is 30feet. Toshiba provides the proper cable forthis connection with each NDTU PCB. Itsinstallation is required forproperoperation.I .I2 System: Each PERCEPTIONehex systemrequires the following configuration:l One NTWU-3 PCB.l D.01, or higher level software.l A cable between NTWU-3 and the first NDTU.(The cable is provided with each NDTU.)‘If ‘I - .A ,>H,vI-/PERCEPTION,~,,Tl/DS-1SEPTEMBER1991I .I3 Applications:1) A TI/DS-1 interface (span) can be connectedto the network, and can provide up to 24 (inunits of 4) FX, DID, TIE, and Loop Start orGround Start CO trunks in any combination.
