CONNECTING TELCO CIRCUITS5.1 SAFETY PRECAUTIONSTo limit the risk of personal injury, always follow these precautions before connectingTELCO circuits:a. Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.b. Never install telephone jacks in a wet location unless the jack is specificallydesigned for wet locations.c. Never touch non-insulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone linehas been disconnected at the network interface.d. Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.5.2 LOOP START LINESUsing one pair twisted #24 AWG or #26 AWG jumper wire, cross-connect each loopstart C.O. line to the Trunk B, Trunk B1 or Trunk C1 port of your choice (see Figures 5–1 and 5–2).5.3 GROUND START LINESUsing one pair twisted #24 AWG or #26 AWG jumper wire, cross-connect each groundstart C.O. line to the GTRK port of your choice (see Figure 5–3).5.4 DID LINESUsing one pair twisted #24 AWG or #26 AWG jumper wire, cross-connect each DIDC.O. line to the DID card port of your choice (see Figure 5–4).5.5 E & M TIE LINESUsing two pair twisted #24 AWG or #26 AWG jumper wire, cross-connect each E & Mtie line to the E & M card port of your choice (see Figure 5–5).5.6 OFF PREMISE EXTENSIONS (OPX)Using one pair twisted #24 AWG or #26 AWG jumper wire, cross-connect iDCS singleline extensions to telephone company OPX circuits (see Figure 5–6). Circuits on the SLIcard are specifically designed to meet TELCO requirements for OPX use. These circuitsare provided with the same over-voltage and over-current protection as that of C.O. linecircuits. Using single line stations on any other SLI card or a KDb-SLI requires theinstallation of externally mounted protection devices.
