FAXING6.123 When you receive a fax call, press On Hook Dial.You can hear a fax tone from the remote machine.4 Press Start Copy/Fax to receive the fax.The machine begins receiving a fax and returns to Standbymode when the reception is completed.Receiving Automatically in Ans/FaxModeFor using this mode, you must attach an answering machine tothe EXT jack on the back of your machine. See page 1.15.1 Press Receive Mode.2 Press and hold Receive Mode until “Ans/Fax” displays onthe bottom line. You may have to repeat this action once ortwice, depending on the mode you’re in.3 When you receive a call, the answering machine answers.If the caller leaves a message, the answering machinestores the message as it would normally. If your machinehears a fax tone on the line, it automatically starts toreceive the fax.NOTES:• When you have set your machine to Ans/Fax mode and youranswering machine is switched off or no answering machine isconnected to the EXT jack, your machine automatically goes intoFax mode after a predefined number of rings.• If your answering machine has a “user-selectable ring counter,”set it to answer incoming calls within 1 ring.• If you are in Tel mode, which is receiving faxes manually, whenthe answering machine is connected to your machine, you mustswitch off the answering machine, or the outgoing message fromthe answering machine will interrupt your phone conversation.
