If youinstall a non-rechargeable battery andstart charging, the battery may leakelectrolyte.1 Press the notch on the cover firmly andslide it in the direction of the arrow.2 Remove the old battery and install thenew one. See page 10 for batteryinstallation.Turning the power on/offPower onPress {ih} for about 1 second.L The display will change to the standbymode.Power offPress {ih} for about 2 seconds.L The display will go blank.Setting the date and timeImportant:L Confirm that the AC adaptors areconnected.L Ensure that w is not flashing.1 Press $ (centre of joystick).2 Select t, then press , 2 times.3 Enter the current day, month and year byselecting 2 digits for each.Example: 17 May, 2004Press {1}{7} {0}{5} {0}{4}.L If you make a mistake, use the joystickto move the cursor, then make thecorrection.4 Enter the current hour and minute byselecting 2 digits for each.5 Press / repeatedly to select 12- or24-hour time entry.L 24-hour time entry is selected whenneither “AM” nor “PM” are displayed.Example: 3:30 PMPress {0}{3} {3}{0}, then press /repeatedly until “03:30 PM” isdisplayed.6 Press ,.7 Press {ih}.Operation Operating timeWhile in use (talking) 17 hours max.While not in use(standby)270 hours max.
