The mini-PCI modem is aninternal modem that allows you to connect to the Internet, send a fax, or access youremail.To take advantage of the mini-PCI modem, simply connect an RJ-11 cable to themodem port on the left side of your system. The LAN and modem ports are onlyavailable if your system is equipped with these optional components.Mini-PCI LAN/ModemYour NEC Versa SXi may ship with an internal mini-PCI Modem/LAN that combinesthe functionality of a LAN and modem to allow you to connect to a local area network,connect to the Internet, send a fax, or access your email.To take advantage of the internal LAN/Modem, simply connect an RJ-45 cable to theLAN port on the left side of the system or an RJ-11 cable to the modem port on the leftside of your system. The LAN and modem ports are only available if your system isequipped with these optional components.Installing the Online LAN/Modem GuidesFor additional information about LAN features or your modem’s AT commands ands-registers, use the A&D CD to install the online LAN or modem guides for yoursystem. To determine the guide that is appropriate for your system, go to Start,Settings, Control Panel, System, and select the Device Manager tab. Double clickModem (if your system is equipped with an optional modem or an optionalcombination LAN/modem) to identify the name of your system’s modem. Double clickNetwork adapters (if your system is equipped with an optional combinationLAN/modem) to identify the name of your system’s LAN. Use the A&D CD to installthe online guide of the same name to your NEC Versa hard drive.Internet ConnectionsYour NEC Versa SXi system is equipped with the Windows operating system toprovide a fully-integrated internet experience. Use the Internet Connection Wizard toconfigure your system for email and internet access. Sign up for a new account orconfigure your system to use an existing account.
