8 Part Number 000007646 11/10Section 3OperationSequence of OperationThe operation of the S Series ice dispenser can bedivided into three main operations. They are DispenserActivation, Ice Pick-Up and Ice Delivery.DISPENSER ACTIVATIONDispenser activation can be accomplished with anumber of different mechanisms.• Rocking Chute (Push for Ice) Activation – Userpushes the Rocking Chute, which energizes amicroswitch. The energized microswitch engages thegearmotor.• Room Key Card Activation – User places theirhotel room key card into a slot on the dispenser. Theroom key card activates the microswitch. The userthen presses the Rocking Chute (Push for Ice) for icedispense. This action activates the gearmotor.• Coin Operated Activation – User places onequarter into dispenser. The quarter activates the coinmechanism. The user then presses the RockingChute (Push for Ice) for ice dispense. This actionactivates the gearmotor.ICE PICK-UPWhen the customer activates the dispenser, thegearmotor inside the dispenser begins to turn.The gearmotor shaft is attached to the paddle wheelinside the bin of the dispenser. As the paddle wheelturns it picks up ice from the dispenser bin. The paddlewheel will bring the pocket containing the ice to the topof the travel area.ICE DELIVERYWhen the paddle wheel pocket reaches the top of itstravel, the ice falls from the paddle wheel to the ice chuteopening of the dispenser bin. The bin chute then directsthe ice to the door assembly dispensing 2-3 oz. of iceper second.If the door closes before all the ice is dispensed, someice may be held back by the door assembly. If the door isopen, the ice will fall through the door and the ice chute.The ice chute will direct the ice into the customer’scontainer.NOTE: Dispense Opening: Height 11" (28 cm), Width14" (36 cm)Model SFA-191/291 is equipped with an optional watervalve. When the water valve lever is pressed, waterflows through the system to the water valve nozzle.
