Configuring the DCR600II Receiver38Once the speakers have been placed in theroom and connected, the remaining steps in thesetup process are to calibrate the output levelsand set the delay times used by the surroundsound processor. The DCR600II features an advanced memorysystem that enables you to establish differentconfigurations for the speaker configuration, surround mode, delay times and output levelsfor each input source. This flexibility enablesyou to custom-tailor the way in which you listento each source and have the DCR600II memorizethose settings. This means, for example, thatyou may use different output levels or trims fordifferent sources, or set different speaker con-figurations with the resultant changes to thebass management system. Once these settingsare made, they will automatically be recalledwhenever you select that input. The factory default settings for the DCR600IIhave all inputs (except DVD) configured for ananalog source, and stereo as the surroundmode. Before using the unit, you will probablywant to change the settings for most inputs sothat they are properly configured to reflect theuse of digital or analog inputs, and the surroundmode specifics. Remember that since theDCR600II memorizes the settings for each inputindividually, you will need to make these adjust-ments for each input used. However, once theyare made, further adjustment is only requiredwhen system components are changed.Once you have completed the settings for thefirst input, many settings may be duplicated forthe remaining inputs. Remember that once thesettings are made for one input, they must bemade for all other input sources in your system.Memory BackupThis product is equipped with a memory backupsystem that preserves the system configurationinformation and tuner presets if the unit is acci-dentally unplugged or subjected to a power out-age. This memory will last for approximatelytwo weeks, after which time all informationmust be reentered.Configuring the SpeakersThe following instructions are to be followed onlyif the DCR600II is NOT used with JBL SCS135P,or if speaker settings have been accidentlyaltered from the default settings, which areSMALLfor all positions with the subwoofer setto SUB L/R+LFE.
