(on some models) ge.comThe oven door must be closed and all controls must be set correctly for the cycle to work properly.Before a Clean CycleWe recommend venting your kitchenwith an open window or using aventilation fan or hood during thefirst self-clean cycle.Remove any broiler pan, broiler grid, allcookware and any aluminum foil fromthe oven.The oven racks can be self-cleaned, butthey will darken, lose their luster andbecome hard to slide.Do not use abrasives or oven cleaners.Clean the top, sides and outside of theoven door with soap and water.Make sure the oven light bulb cover(on some models) is in place and theoven light is off.IMPORTANT: The health of some birdsis extremely sensitive to the fumes givenoff during the self-cleaning cycle of anyoven. Move birds to another wellventilated room. On models with press pad controlsfor both ovens, you can set a cleancycle in both ovens at the same time.The last oven set will automaticallydelay its start until the end of thefirst oven’s clean cycle. On models with press pad controls forboth ovens, you can use timed bakingin one oven and self-clean the other atthe same time. On models with a knob, the loweroven does not have the self-cleanfeature.CAUTION: Never place cooking utensils or anyother items on the oven floor. There is a heatingelement beneath the oven floor. Placing items onthe oven floor may cause the oven to overheat,resulting in damage to the oven and risk ofdamage or fire to cabinets.Wipe up heavy soil on the ovenbottom. (appearance may vary)How to Set the Oven for CleaningPress the Self Clean pad once fora 4-hour clean time or twice fora 3-hour clean time.A 3-hour self-clean time isrecommended for use whencleaning small, contained spills. Aself-clean time of 4 hours or longeris recommended for a dirtier oven.If a time other than 4 hours or3 hours is needed, use the numberpads (on some models) or the Hourand Min + or – pads (on somemodels) and enter the desiredclean time.You can change the clean time to anytime between 3 hours and 5 hours,depending on how dirty your oven is.Press the Start pad.The door locks automatically. The displaywill show the clean time remaining. It willnot be possible to open the oven dooruntil the temperature drops below thelock temperature and the LOCKED lightgoes off.When the LOCKED light goes off, you willbe able to open the door. The word LOCK will flash and the ovencontrol will signal if you set the cleancycle and forget to close the oven door. To stop a clean cycle, press theClear/Off pad. When the LOCKED lightgoes off indicating the oven has cooledbelow the locking temperature, youwill be able to open the door.or(depending on model)15
