The pictures will help you locate them.Warning lights and gages can signal that something iswrong before it becomes serious enough to cause anexpensive repair or replacement. Paying attention toyour warning lights and gages could also save you orothers from injury.Warning lights come on when there may be or is aproblem with one of your vehicle’s functions. As youwill see in the details on the next few pages, somewarning lights come on briefly when you start theengine just to let you know they’re working. If you arefamiliar with this section, you should not be alarmedwhen this happens.Gages can indicate when there may be or is a problemwith one of your vehicle’s functions. Often gages andwarning lights work together to let you know whenthere’s a problem with your vehicle.When one of the warning lights comes on and stays onwhen you are driving, or when one of the gages showsthere may be a problem, check the section that tells youwhat to do about it. See “MessageCenter” in the Index.Safety Belt Reminder LightWhen the key is turned to RUN or START, a chime willcome on for several seconds to remind people to fastentheir safety belts, unless the driver’s safety belt isalready buckled.The safety belt light willalso come on and stay onfor several seconds, then itwill flash for several more.If the driver’s belt is already buckled, neither the chimenor the light will come on.
