When in M(Manual Mode), the vehicle will startin 1 (First) gear every time.M (Manual Mode): This positionallows the driver to select the rangeof gears appropriate for currentdriving conditions. See Driver ShiftControl (DSC) later in this section.Notice: Spinning the tyres orholding the vehicle in one placeon a hill using only theaccelerator pedal may damagethe transmission. If you are stuck,do not spin the tyres. Whenstopping on a hill, use the brakesto hold the vehicle in place.Manual ModeDriver Shift Control (DSC) orTap ShiftNotice: Driving with the engine ata high rpm without upshiftingwhile using Driver Shift Control(DSC), could damage the vehicle.Always upshift when necessarywhile using DSC.Vehicles with DSC may either usethe gear shift lever or the tap shiftcontrols on the back of the steeringwheel to manually shift theautomatic transmission.To use the DSC feature using theshift lever:1. Move the shift lever to the rightfrom D (Drive) to M(Manual Mode).The vehicle will be in sport modeand will shift automatically if thegear shift lever is not movedforward or rearward. Thetransmission may remain in agear longer than it would in thenormal driving mode based onbraking, throttle input, andvehicle lateral acceleration.SPORT MODE will be displayedin the DIC momentarily.2. To go from sport mode to DSC,move the shift lever forward toupshift or rearward to downshift.3. To exit DSC and enter sportmode, hold the shift lever in theupshift/forward position briefly.
