Vehicle IdentificationVehicle Identification Number (VIN)This is the legal identifier for the vehicle. It appears on aplate in the front corner of the instrument panel, on thedriver side. It can be seen through the windshield fromoutside the vehicle. The VIN also appears on the VehicleCertification and Service Parts labels and the certificatesof title and registration.Engine IdentificationThe eighth character in the VIN is the engine code. Thiscode helps identify the vehicle’s engine, specifications,and replacement parts. See “Engine Specifications”under Capacities and Specifications on page 5-103 forthe vehicle’s engine code.Service Parts Identification LabelThis label is on the spare tire cover. It is very helpful ifparts need to be ordered. The label has the followinginformation:• Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)• Model designation• Paint information• Production options and special equipmentDo not remove this label from the vehicle.Electrical SystemAdd-On Electrical EquipmentNotice: Do not add anything electrical to the vehicleunless you check with your dealer/retailer first. Someelectrical equipment can damage the vehicle andthe damage would not be covered by the vehicle’swarranty. Some add-on electrical equipment cankeep other components from working as they should.Add-on equipment can drain the vehicle battery, even ifthe vehicle is not operating.5-94
