For more information aboutOnStar® , see OnStar® System on page 2-51.Automatic Dimming Mirror OperationAutomatic dimming reduces the glare of lights frombehind the vehicle. The dimming feature comes on andthe indicator light illuminates each time the vehicle isstarted.O (On/Off): Press and hold O for about three secondsto turn the dimming feature and compass display onor off.AUTO 3 (Vehicles with Intellibeam™): Press andhold for approximately three seconds to turn thecompass display on or off.Cleaning the MirrorDo not spray glass cleaner directly on the mirror.Use a soft towel dampened with water.CompassCompass OperationPress O or AUTO 3 , depending on the vehicle,to turn the compass on or off.When the ignition and the compass feature are on, aftera few seconds, the mirror will display the compassheading. The compass automatically calibrates as thevehicle is driven.Compass CalibrationIf after a few seconds, the display does not show thecorrect direction, (for example, N for North), theremay be a strong magnetic field interfering with thecompass. Interference can be caused by a magneticantenna mount, magnetic note pad holder or asimilar magnetic item.2-38
