37Getting StartedSetting up your computerImportant information on your computer’scooling fanYour computer may have a CPU cooling fan that cools theCPU by drawing outside air into the computer.Always make sure your computer and AC adaptor haveadequate ventilation and are protected from overheatingwhen the power is turned on or when an AC adaptor isconnected to a power outlet (even if your computer is inSleep mode). In this condition, observe the following:Never cover your computer or AC adaptor with anyobject.Never place your computer or AC adaptor near a heatsource, such as an electric blanket or heater.Never cover or block the air vents including those locatedat the underside of the computer.Always operate your computer on a hard flat surface.Using your computer on a carpet or other soft materialcan block the vents located at the underside of thecomputer.Overheating your computer or AC adaptor could causesystem failure, computer or AC adaptor damage or a fire,possibly resulting in serious injury.The cooling fan location will vary depending on thecomputer.Setting up your computerTECHNICAL NOTE: You must complete all setup stepsup to and including “Setting up your software” onpage 42 before adding external or internal componentsto your computer. These components include, but arenot limited to, a mouse, keyboard, and printer.Your computer contains a rechargeable main battery thatneeds to be charged before you can use it.To use external power or to charge the battery you mustattach the AC adaptor.
