If you are in doubt about some of the check points, or if the remedies indicated in the chart donot solve the problem, consult your dealer for instructions.Unresponsive or inoperable functionNo response when buttonspressed.No operations can beperformed with the remotecontrol.Cannot play DVDs.No picture or sound.You have forgotten yourratings password.Reset all the settings to FactoryPreset.• This unit cannot play discs other than the ones listed in these operating instructions. 7, 15• Some operations may be prohibited by the disc. —• The unit may not be operating properly due to lightning, static electricity or some other external —factor. Turn the unit off then back to ON. Alternatively, turn the unit off, disconnect the AC powersupply cord, and then reconnect it.• Condensation has formed: Wait 1 to 2 hours for it to evaporate. —• Check that the batteries are installed correctly. 5• The batteries are depleted: replace them with new ones. 5• Aim the remote control at the remote control sensor and operate. 8• The remote control and main unit are in different modes. 25Change the remote control mode to match the main unit mode.• CD Mode is on. This is normal.• Folders deeper than the eighth layer are displayed as the eighth layer. —• This is normal for Video CDs. —• Press [L] twice and then press [:, DVD/CD]. —• These functions do not work with some DVD-Videos. —• Some items cannot be played even if you have programmed them. —• If you change the volume or sound field/quality setting during ADVANCED DISC REVIEW, the 12function continues without the on-screen display. Press [A.DISC REVIEW] again to cancel thefunction.SubtitleSubtitle position is wrong.No subtitles.• Adjust the position. (“Subtitle Position” in the Display Menu.) 17• Display the subtitles. 13MarkerCannot add markers. • You cannot add markers with DVD-RAM. —• If the disc’s elapsed play time doesn’t appear on the unit’s display, you cannot add markers. —A-B repeatPoint B is automatically set.A-B repeat is automaticallycanceled.• The end of an item becomes point B when it is reached. —• A-B repeat is canceled when you press [SHIFT]+[QUICK REPLAY]. —SoundSound distorted.Effects do not work.Humming heard during play.No sound• Noise may occur when playing WMA. —• Some audio effects do not work or have less effect with some discs. —• Multi Re-master and Advanced Surround do not work if you have changed the play speed. —• An AC power supply cord or fluorescent light is near the cables. Keep other appliances and —cords away from this unit’s cables.• There may be a pause in sound when you change the play speed. 1328The Setup menu cannot beaccessed.• Select “DVD/CD” as the source. —• Cancel program and random play. 16Menus
