110RQT9428Troubleshooting guideThe unit is on but cannot be operated.¾ Recording drive or playback drive has not been selectedproperly.¾ Some operations may be prohibited by the disc.¾ The unit is hot (“U59” appears on the display). Wait for “U59” todisappear.¾ One of the unit’s safety devices may have been activated.Reset the unit as follows:1 Press [8] on the main unit to switch the unit to standby.If the unit doesn’t switch to standby, press and hold [8] onthe main unit for about 10 seconds. The unit is forciblyswitched to standby.Alternatively, disconnect the AC mains lead, wait oneminute, then reconnect it.2 Press [8] on the main unit to switch it on. If the unit stillcannot be operated, consult the dealer.Cannot eject disc.¾ The unit is recording.¾ The unit may have a problem. While the unit is off, press andhold [g] and [CH 1] on the main unit at the same time forabout 5 seconds. Remove the disc and consult the dealer.If the Child Lock function is activated, above operation does notwork. Cancel the Child Lock function. (➡ 95)Cannot tune channels.Cannot download channel presets from thetelevision.¾ Check the connections. (➡ 16, 101)¾ You must connect to a VIERA Link (HDAVI Control 3 or later)compatible TV with an HDMI cable to download channel presets.Startup is slow.¾ Make sure that “Power Save” is set to “Off”. (➡ 94)¾ Startup takes time in the following situations:– A disc other than a DVD-RAM is inserted.– The clock is not set.– Immediately after a power failure or the AC mains lead isconnected.– When the unit is connected with an HDMI cable.Recording, timer recording andcopyingCannot record.Cannot copy.¾ You can not record to the disc by pressing the [* REC].¾ BD-RE with a cartridge cannot be recorded or copied.¾ You haven’t inserted a disc or the disc you inserted cannot berecorded on. Insert a disc the unit can record onto. (➡ 8, 9)¾ The disc is unformatted. Format the disc. BD-RE BD-R RAM-RW(V) +R +R DL +RW (➡ 85)¾ The disc is protected with DVD Management or Blu-ray DiscManagement. (➡ 84)¾ Some programmes have limitations on the number of timesthey can be recorded (CPRM). (➡ 118)¾ You cannot record when there is not enough space or when thenumber of titles has reached its limit. Delete unwanted titles oruse a new disc. (➡ 26, 47, 85, 90)¾ -R -R DL -RW(V) +R +R DL +RW In the following situations,you cannot copy. Delete unnecessary titles from the HDD andthen copy. (➡ 26, 47, 85)– If there is not enough space available on the HDD (If you willcopy titles from the HDD to a blank disc and fi ll the entiredisc, HDD disc space equivalent to 4 hours of SP moderecording is necessary)– If the number of recorded titles and the number of titles to becopied has exceeded 499.¾ You cannot record and copy on fi nalised discs. However, youcan record and copy again if you format BD-RE and DVD-RW.¾ Due to peculiarities of DVD-R, DVD-R DL, DVD-RW (DVD-Videoformat), +R, +R DL and +RW you may be unable to record ontoor edit them if you either insert and remove the disc or switch theunit on and off while a disc is loaded, a total of 30 times.¾ The discs recorded on this unit may not be recordable on otherPanasonic Recorders.¾ Discs recorded on equipment other than this unit may not beable to be recorded to.¾ This unit cannot record NTSC signals to discs that alreadyhave PAL signal recordings. (However, both types ofprogrammes can be recorded onto the HDD, BD-RE or BD-R.)Play of discs recorded with both PAL and NTSC on anotherunit is not guaranteed.¾ Some broadcasts are copyright protected.Cannot record from external equipment.¾ Check that the connection is correct. (➡ 57, 58, 101)¾ Select the input channel for the equipment you haveconnected.¾ “One time only recording” title recorded to HDD from theequipment connected to the external input cannot be copied toBD-RE or BD-R due to the copyright protection regulations.Use the DVD-RAM compatible with the CPRM.Cannot record 2 programmes simultaneously.¾ It cannot in following conditions.– Record 2 digital broadcasting programmes in other than DRmode– Record 2 programmes from external input– Record 2 programmes to disc– When performing high speed copying (1 programme can berecorded to HDD)– Recording from DV input, while “Recording via AV2 input”Timer recording does not work properly.¾ The timer programme is incorrect or different timer programmetimes overlap ( is displayed). Correct the programme. (➡ 36)¾ The programme is not in timer recording standby. (The timericon “z” in the timer recording list is grey.) (➡ 35)¾ Set the clock. (➡ 94)¾ The programme information in the TV Guide system may notbe correct. It is recommended to modify the start and end timesto allow a margin of a few minutes. (➡ 34)Cannot timer record to the disc.¾ It cannot timer record in following conditions.– Unformatted disc– -R -R DL -RW(V) +R +R DL +RW– Timer record to DVD-RAM in DR mode– Disc with protect setting– Destination disc for timer recording is registered already.– Timer recording for “One time only recording” programme isset to DVD-RAM not compatible to CPRM.The timer programme remains even afterrecording fi nishes.¾ The timer programme remains if set to daily or weekly. (➡ 34)A part or whole of a recorded title has been lost.¾ If there is a power failure or the plug is disconnected from thehousehold mains socket while recording or editing, the title maybe lost or the HDD/disc may become unusable.You will have to format the disc ( HDD BD-RE RAM -RW(V)+RW ) or use a new disc. We cannot offer any guaranteeregarding lost programmes or discs. (➡ 85, 90)¾ If you use Auto Renewal Recording, the old title will be deletedafter the new title is recorded. (➡ 35)Cannot copy to a disc using the high speedmode.¾ High speed copying cannot be performed depending on thedisc or title that is being copied. Refer to “When is the time highspeed copy is not possible?” for details. (➡ 52)When copying, it takes a long time even whenhigh speed mode is selected.¾ Use a disc that is compatible with high speed recording. Even ifthe disc is high speed recording compatible, the maximumspeed may not be possible due to the condition of the disc.¾ It takes longer than normal to copy many titles.¾ You cannot high speed copy to DVD-R titles longer than 6hours when using other Panasonic DVD Recorders that are notcompatible with EP (8 hours) mode recording.
