Chapter 8 - Creating RoutesPage 8-6 961 Operations and Reference Manual Rev. DMarking a route to accept SAVE keypressesYou can mark any one stored route to “accept” SAVE key-presses. When you mark a route in this way, each time youpress the SAVE key, the 961 automatically adds *SAVEDXX*waypoints to the route.To activate a route to accept SAVE keypresses:1. At the ROUTES screen, press the CURSOR PAD up ordown to highlight the desired route, then press the EDITkey.2. At the EDIT THE ROUTE dialog box, press the STARTSAVING ROUTE key.You don’t have to display a route on the CHART screen to savewaypoints in it; conversely, displaying a route on the CHARTscreen doesn’t mean that you’re saving waypoints into it. Thetwo functions work independently. If desired, however, youcan have the 961 display a route and be marked to acceptSAVE keypresses:1. At the ROUTES screen, press the CURSOR PAD up ordown to select the desired route, then press the ONCHART key.2. Press the EDIT key, then press the START SAVINGROUTE key.The route is now displayed on the CHART screen and willalso accept SAVE keypresses.Sorting the list of routesYou can sort the routes list by the following:• whether a route is marked for display on the CHARTscreen• whether a route is marked to accept SAVE keypresses• name• date the route was last modified• total distance covered by each route (length)• distance to your present position (proximity).
