D Page 6-7resorted while you’re displaying the list; you must leave andreturn to viewing the WAYPOINTS screen to update the sort-ing order.Searching for a waypointIf you’ve stored hundreds of waypoints, scrolling through theentire list to find the one you want may be tedious. At theWAYPOINTS screen, you can search for waypoints by the samecategories as the sorting process; that is, you can search bysymbol, name, distance, and bearing:• To search for waypoints by symbol, press the CURSORPAD left to highlight the SYMBOL column (shown at thefar left without a heading), then press the LEFT ARROWand RIGHT ARROW keys to cycle through all the sym-bols. Each LEFT ARROW or RIGHT ARROW keypress willhighlight a different symbol in the SEARCH field.• To search for waypoints by name, press the CURSOR PADleft or right to highlight the NAME column, then use theKEYPAD to enter the first few characters, as necessary, ofthe waypoint’s name.• To search for waypoints by distance or bearing, press theCURSOR PAD left or right to highlight either of these col-umns, then use the KEYPAD to enter the distance or bear-ing.The waypoint that you find during your search will appear inthe list at about the third line from the top, which lets you eas-ily view waypoints that are above and below the found way-point.Creating a new waypointYou can create and store up to 2000 waypoints to the 961’sdatabase.
