This function helpsmaintain the integrity of the display screen and reduce powerconsumption when the 961/962 is on for many hours at atime.SAVE key The SAVE key instantly saves your vessel’s position—at anytime, at any screen, during any function. For example, if you’reediting data on the NAVIGATION SETUP screen when youpress the SAVE key, you’ll still obtain the VESSEL POSITIONdialog box that always follows SAVE keypresses. Pressing theSAVE key temporarily saves your vessel’s position; at a latertime, you can rename this *SAVEDXX* waypoint to save itpermanently. Pressing the SAVE key lets you save a newwaypoint (as a single waypoint or as multiple waypoints in aroute), or add your vessel’s position to the end of thepreviously designated route.For details about using the SAVE key to save your vessel’sposition as a waypoint, see “Creating a new waypoint at thevessel’s position” starting on page 6-11.For details about using the SAVE key to save your vessel’sposition as part of a new route, see “Creating a route as youtravel” starting on page 8-10.MOB keyPressing the MOB key the first time instantly saves yourposition as a Man Overboard (MOB) waypoint. The MANOVERBOARD dialog box appears, and you now have fiveseconds to press CANCEL if you accidentally pressed MOB.Unless you press CANCEL, the CHART screen is automaticallydisplayed (no matter what screen you were previouslyviewing), and navigation is provided directly to the MOBcoordinates. Even if you press CANCEL, an MOB waypoint isstill created on the CHART screen, although navigation to thispoint won’t be provided.
