Vibration or impact that is exerted on the HDDmay therefore cause the head to hit against the disk, hence causing the disk surface to dent or the disk to chip. When this occurs, data may not be properly read, or in aworse scenario, continued use in this condition may resultin head crash (damage). Careful attention must thereforebe paid when handling it. Precautions During Installation and Change of InstallationLocationMoving of this unit or installation work is strictly prohibitedwhen the power of this unit is on or immediately after thepower is turned off (approximately 1 minute). The HDDcontinues to move under its own inertia for some timeafter the power is disconnected, and exertion of vibrationor impact during this interval may result in HDD failure. When moving this unit, wrap it using cushioning materialsto protect it from external shock. Handling Precautions● Handle this unit carefully without exerting vibration orimpact on it.● Do not remove the power plug during recording orplayback, or when the HDD is being accessed.● The HDD is a consumable product. Although it may varyaccording to the environment of use, it is recommended toreplace the HDD after using for 18,000 hours in asurrounding temperature of 25I. (However, this is only areference time and not a quaranty for HDD life span. ) Forinquiries on maintenance plans and expenses, consultyour nearest JVC dealers. When installing an external hard disk, we recommend theuse of UPS (uninterruptible power supply) to ensure thestable operation of the system. [Connecting a UPS](A Page 132) Power failure that occurs during formatting ordisconnection of the HDD may affect its subsequent useeven when the UPS is connected. JVC shall not be held responsible for the compensation oflosses incurred in the event that recording or playbackfails due to defects in this unit or its hard disk drive. Images recorded on the HDD will be deleted when youreplace it with a new disk. Note also that recorded imagesmay be deleted when you upgrade the software for thisunit.Clock Use of a time server is recommended to ensure recordingat an accurate time. There may be a daily error of 10 to 20 seconds dependingon the operating environment. The clock time may vary significantly when the lithiumbattery level used for backup in this unit is running low. Connect the time server to the LAN2 network.Precautions for Proper Useof this Product
