10 GPSMAP 60Cx Owner’s ManualBASIC OPERATION >B ASIC OPERATIONThis section explains some of the more commonoperations you will perform with your GPSMAP60Cx including creating and using waypoints, usingthe Find Menu, and how to create and use tracks androutes.Creating and Using WaypointsWaypoints are locations or landmarks you record andstore in your GPS. They are locations you might wantto return to later. You can add waypoints to routes andeven create a Go To directly to the selected waypoint.Waypoints can be created using three methods. Youcan press the MARK key while at a location, create awaypoint on the Map Page, or enter coordinates for awaypoint manually.Marking Your Current LocationUse the MARK key to quickly capture your currentlocation to create a new waypoint. You must have avalid position (2D or 3D) fix to mark your currentlocation.To mark your current location:1. Press and hold the MARK key until the MarkWaypoint Page appears. A default three-digitname and symbol are assigned to the newwaypoint.Mark Waypoint PageWaypointnameWaypointsymbol2. To accept the waypoint with the defaultinformation, highlight OK, and press ENTER.OrTo change any information on the MarkWaypoint Page, highlight the appropriate field,and press ENTER to open the on-screenkeypad.
