18TroubleshootingOther ProblemsPhenomenonThe printer does not go on Plug the power cord into the outlet, and then turn onthe printer.The printer is unplugged.Check the voltage of the outlet and breaker.Use a power source that conforms to the printerspecifications.The specified voltage is notsupplied.Cause Corrective ActionThe printer makes a strange sound The following sounds do not indicate a problem withthe printer.The printer makes a sound duringoperation.There is a sound of suction from the Platen.•Roll paper makes a fluttering sound during printing.•You suddenly hear the sound of cleaning operations.•You suddenly hear the sound of ink agitation.•To prevent paper from rising, paper is held againstthe Platen by suction from Vacuum holes under it.There may be a fluttering sound when large paper isadvanced.At regular intervals, for printer maintenance,cleaning operations will begin automatically, even ifthe printer is in Sleep mode.At regular intervals, to ensure optimal printingquality, the ink is agitated automatically, even if theprinter is in Sleep mode. Ink agitation takes about aminute and a half.(→"Specifications," User Manual)The printer may have shut downincorrectly last time. This mayhappen after power outages or ifthe printer is unplugged before it isturned off.Please wait a while, because it may take severalminutes to finish checking the hard disk.The printer takes time to start upIn this case, the next time poweris restored, the printer's hard diskis checked, and startup may takesome time.If an error message is displayed after the hard diskcheck, follow the instructions indicated to resolve theproblem.In other cases, contact your Canon dealer.The ink is also agitated automatically under thefollowing conditions.
