Chapter 1: Configuration Configuring a RADIUS serverPage 1-300Sender Message Attribute Value DescriptionAcct-Input-PacketsSum of unicast and multicastpackets that are sent to aparticular SM over the regulardata VC and the high prioritydata VC (if enabled). It willnot include broadcast.Acct-Output-PacketsSum of unicast and multicastpackets that are sent from aparticular SM over the regulardata VC and the high prioritydata VC (if enabled). The data accounting configuration is located on the AP’s Accounts > User Authentication and AccessTracking GUI menu, and the AP’s Authentication Mode must be set to Radius AAA for the menu toappear. The accounting may be configured via the AP GUI as shown in the figures below. By defaultaccounting messages are not sent and the operator has the choice of configuring to send only DeviceAccess accounting messages (when a user logs in or out of the radio), only Data Usage messages, orboth. When Data Accounting is enabled, the operator must specify the interval of when the dataaccounting messages are sent (0 – disabled, or in the range of 30-10080 minutes). The default intervalis 30 minutes.Figure 50 RADIUS accounting messages configurationThe data accounting message data is based on the SM statistics that the AP maintains, and thesestatistics may be cleared on the AP by an operator. If an operator clears these messages and dataaccounting is enabled, an accounting stop message is sent followed by an accounting start message tonotify the AAA of the change. If an operator clears the VC statistics on the device through the management GUI, a RADIUS stopmessage and data start message is issued for each device affected. The start and stop messages willonly be sent once every 5 minutes, so if an operator clears these statistics multiple times within 5minutes, only one set of data stop/start messages is sent. This may result in inaccurate dataaccumulation results.RADIUS Device Re-authenticationPMP 450 Platform systems include support for periodic SM re-authentication in a network withoutrequiring the SM to re-register (and drop the session). The re-authentication may be configured tooccur in the range of every 30 minutes to weekly.
