Using the Tire Sealant and CompressorKit to Temporarily Seal a Punctured TireFollow these directions closely for correct sealant usage.1. Do a safety check before proceeding. See If aTire Goes Flat on page 5-83.2. Inspect the damaged tire.The sealant cannot seal sidewall damage, largepunctures, or a tire that has unseated fromthe wheel. See Roadside Service on page 7-6.Do not remove any objects that have penetratedthe tire.3. Place the sealant and compressor kit on the groundand unwrap the sealant/air hose (F) hose from thecompressor.The sealant/air hose (F) is the top, clear hose.4. Remove the valve stem cap from the flat tire byturning it counterclockwise.5. Attach the sealant filling hose (F) onto the tire valvestem. Turn it clockwise until it is tight.6. Unwrap and plug the air compressor accessoryplug (E) into an accessory power outlet in thevehicle. See Accessory Power Outlet(s) onpage 3-21 for more information.Do not slam the door or close the window on thecompressor accessory plug cord.{CAUTION:Idling the engine in a closed-in place or withthe climate control system off can causedeadly carbon monoxide (CO). See EngineExhaust on page 2-47.7. Start the vehicle. See Starting the Engine onpage 2-34 for more information. The vehicle mustbe running while using the air compressor.5-87
