35uuSeat BeltsuAbout Your Seat BeltsSafe DrivingThe front seats are equipped with automaticseat belt tensioners to enhance safety.The tensioners automatically tighten the frontseat belts during a moderate-to-severe frontalcollision, sometimes even if the collision is notsevere enough to inflate the front airbags orthe driver’s knee airbag.Are the motor-powered pretensioners thatstart to retract the front seat belts when theCMBS TM, brake assist system, or VSA® systemis in operation. They may also activate whenyou steer the vehicle hard, or the vehicle isimpacted. After retracted, the seat belts areslackened to their original positions.As convenient features, the e-pretensionersslightly retract the seat belts when you latchthe seat belt buckle, depress the brake pedalmore aggressively than you normally do, ormake a sharp turn, and fully retract when yourelease the seat belt buckle.■ Automatic Seat Belt Tensioners 1Automatic Seat Belt TensionersThe seat belt tensioners can only operate once.If a tensioner is activated, the SRS indicator will comeon.
