– 6 –ABOUT THE KEYPADSGeneralYour keypads allow you to control all system functions. The keypads featuretelephone-style digital keys and a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), whichshows the nature and location of all occurrences.The keypads feature a built-in sounder that emits alarm sounds duringalarm and trouble conditions, and produces warning tones during entry andexit delay periods (if so programmed). The sounder also providesacknowledgment tones when keys are pressed, and confirmation tones forsuccessful command entries.Keypad StylesThere are various styles of keypads, any of which may have been used inyour system (see page 8). Although different in appearance, all styles arefunctionally the same, except for their display windows (see “Keypad Types”below). The keys on some keypads are located behind a flip-down cover,which can be removed, if desired.Keypad TypesThere are two basic types of keypads, alpha and fixed-word, either of whichmay have been used in your system.Alpha KeypadsThese feature a 2-line, 32-character alphanumeric Liquid Crystal Display(LCD) that can display the nature and location of all occurrences in simpleEnglish.Fixed-Word KeypadsThese are functionally similar to the alpha keypads, except that their LCDuses pre-designated (fixed) words to identify the nature and location ofoccurrences.
