User’s Manual 4-2Operating BasicsTwo buttons below the keyboard are used like the buttons on a mousepointer. Press the left button to select a menu item or to manipulate text orgraphics designated by the pointer. Press the right button to display a menuor other function depending on the software you are using.For some functions, you can tap the TouchPad instead of pressing a controlbutton.Touch Pad GestureThere are four convenient gestures that make users operate the systemeasier and faster.ChiralMotionYou can scroll vertically and horizontally. To enable these features, selectthe Enable vertical scrolling and Enable horizontal scrolling checkboxes.Click on the window or item you wish to scroll and slide your finger upwardsor downwards along the right edge of the TouchPad to scroll vertically. Slideyour finger to the left or right along the lower edge of the TouchPad to scrollhorizontally.If scrolling does not respond, ensure that the appropriate check box isselected and that the window or item on which you have clicked isscrollable. If you still have problems, check your Scrolling Region settings.Pinch Zoom (Pinch)The Pinch Zoom gesture delivers zooming functionality in manyapplications. You can use the Pinch Zoom gesture to perform the samefunctions that a scroll wheel performs on standard Windows applicationsthat support CTRL-SCROLL WHEEL zoom functionality.To enable this feature, select the Enable Pinch Zoom check box.Do not press on the TouchPad too hard or press a sharp object such as aball point pen against the TouchPad. The TouchPad could be damaged.Click: Tap the TouchPad onceDouble-click: Tap the TouchPad twiceDrag and drop:1. Hold down the left control button and move the cursor to drag theitem you want to move.2. Lift your finger to drop the item where you want it.Scroll:Vertical: Move your finger up or down the right edge of the TouchPad.Horizontal: Move your finger left or right along the bottom edge of theTouchPad. |
